A native of Webster County, Dr. Schat has always had a passion for helping others. She believes this passion comes from her large, loving extended family and her two grandmothers who lived their lives in the service of others. Her love for eyecare first started when she herself received her first pair of glasses in the third grade. That love has grown exponentially over the years to make Dr. Schat a caring and enthusiastic optometrist, who says her favorite part of being an eye doctor is a patient’s reaction to their first pair of glasses that helps to open up their whole world.
Dr. Schat received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University, then completed her optometric education at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Her externship training included further instruction in ocular disease and laser procedures at the VA Hospital of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Northeastern State University Oklahoma, College of Optometry. She has experience in managing a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, and finds great enjoyment in treating people of all ages and backgrounds.
When away from the office, Dr. Schat enjoys her time at home with her husband Joey, their three children, and their Siberian husky, Quinn. She loves to read, when she is allowed a rare quiet moment, and to travel, especially to any place tropical. She is very excited to become a part of the Mooney EyeCare Centre family!
